Dr. Celia Oreja-Guevara is the Chief of Clinical Research at the Multiple Sclerosis Unit and Senior Neurologist at the University Hospital San Carlos, Madrid, Spain.
After graduating with her Medical Degree from the University of Madrid, she completed her PhD thesis in Neuroimmunology at the Max-Planck-Institut für Neurobiologie and the University of Munich, Germany. She then completed a residency in the Department of Neurology at the University of Bochum, Germany. Her subsequent posts included: Senior Neurologist and Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Dusseldorf and in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Bochum, Germany; Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroimaging at the University Hospital San Raffaele, Milan, Italy; and Head of the Department of Neurology, Hospital de Fuenlabrada, and Chief of the Multiple Sclerosis Unit, University Hospital La Paz, Madrid, Spain.
Dr. Oreja-Guevara’s research interests cover the Clinical and Neuroimaging Correlation in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Utility of Optical Coherence Tomography in MS, Symptomatic Therapy and Clinical Neuroimmunology. She has participated as an Investigator in several MS clinical trials and a Coordinator of the Neuroimaging Group of the Spanish Neurological Society and Spanish delegate for MS at the European Federation of Neurological Societies. Head of the Medical MS Board of the Spanish Society of Neurology. She is the Principal Investigator in many MS clinical trials. Currently, she is an Expert of Spanish Medicines Agency and Expert of the Scientific Advisory Group Neurology of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
